Grant, I did a quick search of the National Film and Television Archive but probably need more information - such as the actual name of the film or year it was released.
Anyhow, I've emailed them and asked for assistance. See what happens.

Good one, Gramps - wonder why that didn't come up in the Google search Grant did originally?

Ruth,

Depends on how you word your search and how many results you're prepared to wade through. When a search comes up with 4784673463637634734874838383 results, I go looking for a beer and something else to do hahahahahahaha

Thanks Gramps, just spent 15 or 20 minutes browsing around that site & it's well worth a visit. I will get back to it when I have a little more time.
You know we talk about to days transport costs, but if you look at how much horses cost back then compared to other items, then it seems to me that they were an expensive mode of transport. Wonder what the conversion/ comparison cost would be compared to to-days costs. Cheers.

Grant,

Not the movie but Bill Peach did a series on Australian Explorers on the ABC several years ago.
I am pretty sure there was an episode on Bourke and Wills.
You can get the series from the ABC shop but it is quite expensive.
I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow a copy on video from a school library.

I can also recommend a historical novel called the "Dig Tree". Sorry can't remember the autor's name, a lady I seem to recall.

Regards,

Rosscoe

Sara Murgitroyd died only a few months after finishing this book. For me that fact added to the overall tragedy of the Burk & Wills story
