Can a (3 stage) solar regulator be used to smart charge a deep cycle battery thru the cig lighter? Since it's maximum 10A a solar regulator can handle the current. Sortof similar to the Thumper battery.
I know it will charge very slowly compared to a proper dual battery system but it has the advantages of being portable and possibly cheaper.
I know I could go out and buy a Thumper, or an ABR Flyer but I would rather build it myself. Plus I'm a tightar$e.

No you can't use a solar regulator as it will blow the fuse when it tries to regulate.
