I'm looking at getting 33's. What i bascially need to know is what is a common size so if i need a replacement in the middle of the bush or dessert it wont be a drama.

is 33x12.5r15 the most common? if not what is?

anyone know what rims i are worth taking a look at with an offset for a HJ45?

cheers,
rich

For 33s thats a reasonable 'common' size but the most common size for availability is 31 10.5R15 LT
Huge glut of overstock since everyone went to 16 and 17 inch rims!

15 inchers are having a ball with $110-150 tyres!!!

Do you need 33s or is it just for looks!

Matt.

Hiya Matt

Wish my MTZ's cost that lol

Oh and for people to go well above the tyre rating on there tyre placard is downright stupidity for Insurance purposes !

nah, not for looks at all, manily for saving petrol on the highway with only a 4sp gearbox -- a few people have told me its the best way to go.....

if eveyones going to 16 & 17 would i be better off doing that for future ease of avalibility?

For saving fuel and probably best performance as well for that car I reccomend 255/85/16 Cooper st or Maxxis bighorns if you like muds, all on 7inch rims like Trak 11 with 10mm negative offset.

These tyres are 33 1/3 inch and are narrower at 10 inches.

I have sets of both for my Patrol and they do lower your revs on higher by 5 - 7%

This size is not wide available , but this doesn't really matter in the bush for your car as they be bagged out to accomodate any 33in tyre in an emergency.

Rich,

The only common size of 15 inch tyres is 31x10.5r15.

Most common sizes out bush is 750R16, 235/85R16 and 265/75R16, which are all 32". Skinnier tyres are usually better on fuel.

Sunrasia rims are the best value for money you don't need bling if your in a REAL 4WD .I've run 33's on 15 x 7 " rims for years no problems off road in rough terrain also float very well on sand at 18 psi on a cruiser. But the are not a common size away from coastal towns where 31's are easy to get .I'd would recomend carring 2 spares when venturing inland.
