HI all, we are looking for new 4 inch coils for our 100 Series LC. Would appreciate any feedback from those who have used different brands.

We are travelling Oz (been on road for 2 years) have just upgraded to a 21 foot caravan and want decent springs for towing.

Currently have a 5 inch lift kit which has Dobinson springs (2 yrs old) but the back ones have sagged alot and one back corner has dropped also.

So we are looking for fairly heavy duty coils but still have good off-road performance when playing off-road without the van.

Cheers

Have a look at Polyair Springs.

Polyair Springs

I have them on the back of my Troopy and they work well.

Cheers
Dick

Yes I can also recommend looking at the Polyairs, we had a set on our 80 series cruizer which was pretty weighty.
You can pump em up when towing and let a bit of air out for ride comfort when you're not.

Also if your car is pretty weighty I can certainly recommend Tuff Dog shocks. Ours kept eating OME shockies for breakfast. The Tuff Dog suspension has lasted a lot longer, I guess mainly because they don't top out in their travel under the weight like OME's probably were.

der, I meant to say "bottom out" rather than top out. Well it's the only reason I could think of as to why they would have not lasted as long as they should.
Guess the OME spring rate (of the shockies) was wrong for our car. From riding mountain bikes I know that a shock isn't just a shock, there is a lot more to it. Kind of surprises me that they aren't more adjustable for cars particularly in regards to the rebound rates etc.

Looked at the polyair site, they only make to suit 2.5 inch lift, we have a 5 inch lift currently but want to drop down to 4 inch. Doesn't look like polyairs will be an option....

Hi Montemoo,
Why not just replace the front ones with 4 in lift springs, the back will possibly be even then due to the sag.
See i'm saving you money.
Regards Alan.

What ever brand springs you use make sure they are 21 or 22mm and with heavy duty springs.
Cheers Dave...
