Kurumba to Lawn Hill Road conditions

Hi All

We are heading over to Cairns (again) next month to drive west out to Karumba. We are borrowing a friends car and were wondering what the roads are like from Normanton via Leichhardt Falls to Lawn Hill and if they can be done with a conventional car?

If anybody has knowledge of these roads, I would greatly appreciate any information you could give me and what you thoughts are about travelling it in a normal car?
