I would like increase range in nissan 3.0l diesel. Would prefer to replace auxillary tank with something bigger.
Has any one had any experience with this - any problems.

I replaced my main tank with a 145L. Points to consider.
a. Does it have a protective plate on it like the original?
b. What will be the effect of an extra 50kg at the end of the vehicle?
c. What effect will it have on your mileage?
d. How will your fuel guage work?
If I did it again, I would be looking for a bigger aux tank that did not require any modification to the vehicle.

Sean, Long Range Automotive have a replacement auxiliary tank for the GU Patrol - 75 litres, I believe. I have had their tanks in several of my vehicles and they provide an excellent product and also excellent backup service (if required). Not sure where you are, but I know LRA products are available through a number of 4X4 outlets around the country.

I have a 3.0 Patrol and have had a long range tank fitted. It replaces the standard 30 litre sub and is 80 litres (approx 75 useable). Got it from Opposite Lock in Midland WA. About $900 fitted. Does not decrease ground clearance but it is very exposed. I hope the bottom plate is thick enough if I forget and drive over the wrong rock! No other problems at all.
