Price of Telstra Satphone ??

Gone Bush (WA)

Has anyone recently bought a Telstra satphone (Motorola 9505A) outright?

No contract, just the phone.

If so what price did you pay?

Also, a month or so ago on a Thread about Satphones someone mentioned that a shop near Garden City in Booragoon WA sells satphones but did not mention the name of the shop.

Any West Aussies know the name of that shop?

I rang around in Adelaide yesterday for a price, it seems $1999.00 is the retail price for the full kit, as described in this link.

That IS $US Dedabato, at $US1395, plus GST coming in so close to $A1600, may be a bit more.

I've mentioned this before on previous posts. Go and have a chat to your local Telstra Country Wide manager if you have one in the area. Most of them have a Sat phone which they loan out to community groups.

Tell them your going on a trip and will write it up on this site.

I have a good relationship with the fella in Frankston (Vic) and never had a problem. In fact they have never even charged me for the few calls I've made.
