I finally have had time to remove the old genuine unit out of darkie and install a new single din unit and relocated the UHF into the opening while I was at it.
The question is what have others used to fill the space on the side of the units as I have about a 15mm gap either side of the stereo and UHF.

Cheers Sir Kev

Hi Kev,

My brother just put some black foam in the gaps... Looks quite good & if u didn't know, you'd think it was supposed to be there...

Little B

I was thinking along the same lines, it should mould pretty well to the unevenness of the side I presume.

When I removed the double DIN on the patrol, I placed one of those DIN sized trays under the new stereo and placed my UHF in that, but no good to you as it seems the original yota one is not a standard size.......I know how about you jam ya ego in there to fill the gap when QLD lose on Wednesday??? :):):)

Roachie used some plywood painted the same colour as his dash to fill a hole under his stereo, looked pretty good too.

Cheers Stefan

Hi there,
I cut a rectangular piece out of one of my empty black plastic oil containers as I had a black dash. I then cut it to fit over the UHF with a surround large enough to overlap the existing dash. I then used thin double sided tape and small screws to screw it onto the car dash and painted the screw heads black with permanent texta.
Looks the part even if I say so myself. I call it re-cycling!
