Hi all,

After a few years of camping and 4 wheel driving with my mates, I have finally bit the bullet and purchased my first 4 wheel drive and I am after the thoughts of "people in the know"...

This is what I got for 25 grand

99 GU Patrol 4.2 TD (White in color)
145000kms on the clock
ARB Winch bar
T-Max winch
Dual Battery system
Tradesman type roof rack/tray
Snorkel
Tough Dog suspension
2" lift kit
Cargo Barrier
Drawers in the back, complete with slide out top for a fridge
Hayman Reece Towbar
Cooper STT Discoverer LT285/75R16 (soon to be replaced)

When I first picked it up, I put it on a hoist at work and had a mechanic look at it, he said that he thought it had never done anything harder than family camping trips.

Congratulations mate!
I think you did rather well, just run in and a lot of expensive stuff on it. They are great reliable trucks and i wish you lots of fun with it!
Cheers, Udo

Congrads - i also have the 4.2 TDI but in the 2000 Model - i got her 2 year ago - but for $20 000 with 200 K on the clock ( private)

with bullbar - 9000Lbs warn winch 2 inch lift - old man emu suspension - hayman reice towbar , snorkel

you will not regret the purchase ... 4.2 was the better option than the 3 ltr ( although the 3 ltr would be almost 1/2 the price )

don't be scared to use it as a real 4x4 - it can take it ....

I reckon you have a winner. Not havong to go out and buy all the extras that are on the vehicle is a plus. The motor is built like a tank and should give you many hundreds of thousnds of kilometres with good preventaive maintenance. Many of my friends have the 4.2 GU and all swear by them. Not so the 3.0 litre. Yet I`m lead to believe that the problems with the 3.0 litre were resolved, but I still continue to read about problems with them. Your vehicle will give you many years of happy driving.

Welcome to the fold! Your Nissan will take you to some wonderful places! And I agree, you have a bargain there!

Congrats!

Cheers
