Pildappa Rock is about 15 km from the SA town of
Minnipa, just outstide of the
Gawler Ranges. It is a similar formation to
Wave Rock in WA. It is known as an "inselberg" and is a granite dome formed underground and gradually exposed over time. The flaring is attributed to chemical reactions underground triggered by water run off from the exposed rock.

I have to admit that I too checked your profile and saw your Pildappa Rock shot but thought that would be too obvious so went for the next one over. This is close to my old stomping ground and with due respect to RK I have been there, but then he may have too.
