265/75/16 BF Goodrich AT or Michelin LTX AT2.
Could someone adjudicate with some knowledge of either tyre ?
Kind regards

I'd go the BF's.
Better sidewall.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Michelins are better on road though.

Had two sets of BFG with no worries, but had side wall damage with the Michelin. The Mitchlines were on a Rodoa dule cab.

A bit of subject, but, what is the difference in size (height) between 265?70 16 & 265/ 75 16 ?

At a guess the vehicle would be a

2007 Toyota 70 Series Gxl Td 4.5 V8

and conditions similar to his pics in his profile ;)

Tyres are to go on our landcruiser as per profile however we cannot ever pick the surface conditions. The LTX AT2 michelins are an improved tyre on the the previous LTX AT's. The tread pattern is different and shoulders are more square.

Michelin own BFG anyway as most would be aware.

I ran LTX's on a very heavy LR 130 tray with camper and had a very good run after the BFG AT KO's were thrown away as a bad joke.
This was in a 235/85/16 LT.

They are an excellent tyre very quiet on road and have better off road grip than looking at the pattern would suggest.

I would buy them again.

I wonder where the Michelin is made? If in the USA I bet its made by BFG in a BFG plant with a BFG carcase.
I have some 205x16 BFG Long Trails which are made in France. I wonder who makes tyres in France? They have a different tread pattern but look like Michelins to me.
So the debate may be hypothetical.

Goodyear Silent Armour 265/75LT16's - have been running them with 3T vehicle around Aus last year - brilliant.

Ran them at 90-100km/h at 22-24psi hot on dirt up and across the top of au. Ran them at 12-14psi across the simpson.

Just been looking at the new Goodyear A/T Silent Armor and must say its a great looking tyre. "Made in the USA" was written on the sidewall, but at this datge cant justify the pirce of $1000 for all four - fitted and balanced, so may have to fit something with in the budget, but have no idea what at this stage Tyre size for the 4x4 is 31x10.5x15 Bridgestone D693 ( the new series ) $180 each. Bit dubious about the Maxxis A/T - have heard too many negatives. Wont touch Coopers` with a barge pole. Still got about 20,000 K left on the existing Nexen A/T. Not so good mileage but tremendous in the wet, and on gravel, sharp stones/rocks etc, useless in the mud, unless there is a hard base to get traction.

I looked at the Maxxis A/T but they did not have load ratings required (which is the biggest problem with cheaper tyres).

gday stan ,
ive just completed a 12000k trip into tthe kimberlys with michelen LTX had no problems ran them at 28 psi on the dirt .
they are excellent in beach sand at 18 psi . very quiet on the road and excellent grip in the wet .
the cost more than BFG though and BFG AT's have a really good reputation .

hope this helps

Did your LTX AT2's suffer chipping on gravel roads?
