Just back from picking up a second hand Porta Bote in Canberra.

We had to try out the new toy on the way back so stopped at Renmark and had some fun - see the pics on my profile.

We got the 3.27 metre one together with a 3.3 HP Mercury. All new in Nov 06 and hardly used. 2 up it would do 11 kmh flat out and cruise easily at 9kmh. 1 up it stepped onto the plane at 6 kmh and topped out at 19 kmh.

Still trying to get the smile off my face.

Good onyer, sounds like lots of fun. I would love to get something like that to take on some of our trips, but the better half has a bit of a back problem & finds it hard these days to lower herself into a boat. Ahh to be young again!!
Good luck to you & cheers.

I also got one a few weeks back and made this little movie showing the setup and using the Portabote.

Nice video - I am glad I got the slightly longer boat.

We found that the hardest thing about putting it together was getting the boat opener in. Our frst attempt was 15 minutes from the car to the water with the outboard fuelled and ready to go.

Pete,

You've learnt to drive a boat then?

Hope the second 'drive' is as much fun as the first.

Cheers,

Matt.

At least I get to steer this one and the power to weight ratio is about the same.

I also like the colour better and it is a little easier to transport and I don't need the 38 wheel trailer.

Pajman

I have a 10' bote with a five hp.

A great little machine, but a word of advice, unlike a tinny you cannot do a fast tight turn.

Take it from one who knows the result is quite embarassing, hurtful an wet.

As well as expensive. One mobile phone, one wallet, one pair of glasses.

Slow right down if you want to do a you turn.

Regards Bob

I read that after I got back, but he was on about diesel and the Heritage Listed Paj only takes petrol.

It was a very good deal. We have been keeping an eye on the various shopping sites for 6 months and found this one advertised in a local Canberra paper.

It was also an excuse for a trip and a visit to some rellies in the ACT.

Cheers
