Have just put a Safari Dtronic chip in
mine and am getting a new 3 " exhaust in the next week or so.
It seems to run smoother and go better with the chip but the Dyno will tell the story I guess.
Bought the chip new for nearly half price so all up cost will be about $3,000.
I tow a 21ft 2.8t van

I put on a 3" mandrel bent exhaust when I damaged the original and it improved mid range performance but economy stayed the same. Then put in a D'tronic and it improved the low end performance and fuel consumption by 2L/100KM. Haven't had it Dyno'd but you can feel the difference.

It was done by Macquarie 4X4 in NSW but I'm not sure where they sourced it from.

Here are the results of the Dyno tests on the 100 series 4.2td.
Has a DTRONIC chip and now has a DTS 3' mandrel bent exhaust.
The red figures are standard
The blue figures are with chip only
The green is with both.

Makes a dramatic difference and not much more noisy than standard.
Took 3 hours because of the extra Dyno runs
All up cost $1100 for aluminised exhaust and dump
plus $900 for chip. Got out of it cheap at $2000 I reckon.
Will do fuel consumtiontests later but dont expect to save much, just wanted a bit more go for towing.

Hi Stewart,
I read on the
forum last week or maybe a few days ago that a member, I think, had his diesel gassed. He was saying that the claims were a 30% increase in power and a fuel saving of 20%.
He reconed that he could
well believe the power increase claims but was yet to have it dynoed and the fuel savings were probably more like 15% if I read it correctly.
Do a search back of the last week and
check it out. It was enlightening.
Regards,
Bruce.

It's a Bugr to be getting old, Just remembered that I had printed the article to show a neighbour.
The heading is LPG/Diesel findings.
Thread No. 58303
Authors name was Steve.
Give it a look and see what you recon.
A bigger exhaust system never goes astray either when you are talking diesels.
Check out some other posts on the subject of exhaust modifications as
well.
