What is the yabby supply like at Innamincka this time of year?

The Boss wants to try they when we are out at the Gathering.

I have a couple of opera house traps packed but what are the chances of getting any worthy of eating??

Cheers Sir Kev

It's a bit to sandy at Innaminka for yabbies I think.
Fishing should be good though.

Easy to see you've never been yabbieing in the sandy rivers of Western Queensland. I'll let you know tomorrow how we go, checked out some fav spots today. Can't get into the one we showed Willem - too muddy.
Out here - if the yabbies are being caught - the fish are eating them as well, Dave.

Sorry, Dave, maybe should apologise for my tone of voice - I'm a bit hissed - someone left an open bottle of Merlot (me) and I was worried it would go off so I drank it whilst waiting to go out to dinner for my wedding anniversary - so after cooking dinner (with the bottle) I'm now talking to my friends on EO whilst he is watching Aust/Ireland on Austar Rugby.
Weather - very cold. Didn't get above 17 today - watery sunny day with high cloud and very cold southerly wind.

Ruth, your cooking your own dinner for your own wedding anniversary?

Didn't the chef turn up tonight?

Well, if there are yabbies there at Innaminka Ruth, what's best with them?

Beer or Merlot?

I better load both in the car just to be on the safe side:>))

John & Heather - you don't usually make up excuses to drink Merlot - thought your wedding anniversary was in December?
So, that was you ringing up last night - too busy to answer the phone, sorry!
12 degrees inside the house this a.m. and cold southerly blowing (again) outside.
Supply truck got in from Adelaide just now and double fuel truck came in from Windorah - blowing wind yesterday helped dry the roads out a bit. Pity the tourists wouldn't listen and understand that they MUST stay in the centre of the roads, no matter what, becaue they get into more trouble trying to go around instead of realising that the worst sections of floodways have solid bottoms underneath. Lecture ended.

Ruthie, I may have to take different anti-gout measures and cut out some of the reds yet. That would nearly kill me to lose the merlot (insert shiraz, cab sav at will) access. Didn't realise that we shared an anniversary though.

Bro, I am still on the same sentence. These days you are let out early for good behaviour! I have so far been in for over three life sentences. HM pleasure eh?

Imagine us having the same anniversary! Thank goodness champagne doesn't give me leg cramps at night like the Merlot does. I can drink it just like rain water - and I do.
Well Happy Anniversary to you - no-one remembered ours not even Mum and it should have been her and Dad's 61st (Ian reckons Dad died to get away from Mum - I'm lucky I've got a very nice Ma-in-Law).
Check my yabbie photo from today in new Post!

Kev, we tried the Common and at Cullyamurra week before last and it was a waste of time. Did O.K. at Quilpie though.

I wonder if the recent rain will get them active now though?

Cheers Sir Kev

PS Taroom has a few still being caught as well, while Surat has gone quiet.

Yabbie pickings have always been very slim for me at Innamincka - locals told me years back not to expect much - they said the 'conditions' along that stretch of the Cooper don't suit the yabs.

You just have to take control and be the net pulling monitor....
"No not yet....another 10mins and we'll all go down and pull the pots together"
But you go down in 5mins and pinch them all!!!!

Yeah....I know your type!
In fact better than you would believe.
