Been planning a trip acrosss he Simpson all year and just realised that we'll be arriving in
Birdsville first day of the races. (So much for getting away from the crowds)
Was intending to make contact on this
forum with anyone heading west across the Simpson on about Sept 7, but now I reckon we'll be in a traffic jam - that's the day after the races.
Never been there before, so anyone with prior experience please educate me.
What will the traffic be like the day after the races - heading to Dalhousie?
I've go a notion it will be a good party atmosphere, but pre-warned is prepared.

We left
Birdsville the day after the races in 2006.
Birdsville itself was very busy, but once we crossed big red and headed into the Simpson we only saw a few vehicles for the rest of the day. With the price of fuel I think there will be fewer vehicles than previous years. -Steve

Hi Aussie.Nomad, we are planning to be at the races this year so I am interested in your thread as
well.
From what we have heard your assumption of a 'party atmosphere' sounds on the money!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are looking forward to it. May catch up there.
Cheers

At this stage we are headed over the Nullarbor to
Yorke Peninsula to meet up with friends there then up the
Birdsville track and down through Innaminka, that's our plan at this stage.
Cheers
