Hi guys,
the head has gone again on my 89 GXL crusier (3F motor 5 speed)
and i was wondering what to do. I don't want to spend another $1000 on the head again. So i was looking at putting a V8 in. Is it a good idea or would i be better off just getting a change over engine? we travel up north a bit towing a camper van, so i thought the V8 would be the go because it would the crusier a bit more grunt. currently i runnig on dual fuel and want to stay that way, due to the lack of gas up the middle of oz. hope someone can point me in the right direction
Thanks Deano

Deno, i have a 3f in an 80 series that is going cheap, has extractors.
You can test drive it aswell as what ever other test you like:-)
You will probably find the inlet manifold to blame on yours, or a warped flange is leaking, or the jetting in the carbi is too lean.
The 80 3f has a lighter flywheel, and a heat exchanger on the oil aswell, and doesnt seem to have the valve problems the earlier 3f's did. All fits thesame as yours, no mods.
If you want to go v8, it will cost you 1500 for the kit, then 500+ for the engineers report, exhaust, power steer brackets etc, so my advice is to stick with the boat anchor.
I am able to pull out and also deliver (within reason) Give me a bell on limo4b@yahoo.com.au

Sorry Guys
Sorry for putting myself first there, i presumed it was valve seats because of the 3f and LPG. As you rightly point out, it could be anything from leaking coolant to a stripped thread in the plughole...
