A big step backwards, if you think the 80 box is worse, then put some castrol vmx-m oil in it and that will make it shift better...the 75 box is known to have weak 5th and transfer idler...aswell as output spline problems, the 80 box only has shifting issues....
Wont fit straight in but will fit the motor...so thats 90% of the issues sorted....dribeshafts/crossmember and spedo to go

Paste this into your browser. It is a slow site to load sometimes but it is a toyota forum and I seem to remember someone in the last week or so talking about converting from R151 to H55F gearbox.

Better still here is the post.
http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=55313

and here is the interesting statement check last 2 lines.

i have plans on the reverse conversion ..putting a 1hz onto my h55f in my 60

from memory the 1hz was on the 151 and the 150 transmissions in the 79 and 80 series
...But was also in the late 75 series

the 75 series had the 2h with h55f the upgraded to the 1hz on the h55f box

if to source a bellhousing from a 1hz/h55f 75 series cruiser you should be in buisiness..not sure about the cross member though!
