May be old news but Navman are offering unit upgrades at the cost of purchasing a map upgrade.

I have just sent my old one back to them for the new S50 model.

I just got my old icn635 replaced under warranty with a N60i and the invoice came back with a replacement cost of $178. The unit retails for around the $800 mark. I believe they are not supporting some older models software wise any more so maybe they figer its more costly to support the older models and good marketing to offer an upgrade given that your map purchase price is probably covering their cost of supply and a new unit comes with new maps anyway.

good marketing strategy, someone there needs a gold star.

Yeah, I agree. Went hunting for upgraded maps cause mine where a few years old. Had to read the deal about five times before I realised that there were no strings attached.
