Hi Panama2008. If its any consolation after having my 1991 4runner ( V6 model) converted to LPG , I had no where to store my spare wheel except on the rear floor- which was a nuisance in itself. I found a 4x4 magazine with a whole list of aftermarket spare wheel carriers for the V6 4Runner from Gear to go Anywhere. If my memory serves me right they are in South Australia or Adelaide. I paid $740 + Freight- to Perth and manged to fit it myslef - time consuming but never the less I got it all sorted out over a few beers and some choice language, when no one was around, and have never been happier. Its freed up the interior space and fits nicely behind the left side of the rear window. Also they supply a number plate bracket, so that you can move the number plate over to the right so that the view of the plate is not obstructed. The only thing missing is that the wheel and number plates covers the rear reversing lights but am going to change that by fitting the 96 SSR V6 tail light assembly so that I can connect the reversing lights through the tail light cluster
By the way I have a tow bar on my vehicle and it fitted perfectly. All I had to do was to remove the left rear bumper bracket that bolts from the bumper to the chasis. All those extras are included in the kit

The Surf spare wheel carrier will not fit the 4runner - I have both vehicles. Due to the Surfs number plate being mounted on the far left, the switch to the rear window is in a different location to that of the 4Runner and the Surf bolt holes and hardware are all on the right hand side. Making it virtually impossible to fit. Only way round that is to get the Surf spare wheel carrier and the Surfs rear tailgate in order to get it all to work correctly

thx shaker if u look closely at the EO Trader im the 1 selling the carrier to suit the surf, i bought it fro a wrecker in Qld who told me yes it would fit with no trouble but to modify ide need to drill holes on body and then get a surf tailgate and the place where i need to drill the holes is not accessible

I gave one away a few weeks ago- it was fitted to a Rodeo, and with minimal work would be good for 4Runner.
I had it on Freebies here for a while- but no one interested !!

I have a Kaymar swing out wheel carrier on my 92 4Runner. It's off at the moment for an overhaul as the latch buggered up and the powdercoat is coming off. I can measure it up and do some sketches if you are interested in making one. It's not hard if you have some welding ability and access to someone to do laser cutting (where are your located?). Only thing is it may take a couple of weeks for me to get off my ring and do it. Might give me some incentive to finish my resto job.
