Hi,
Can anyone tell me how much for a new MAF for my 12/2003 GU 3lt patrol and where I can get one from for the right price, I have got a price from Nissan for $1200 but I have read on patrol forum that they had brought for $220 but didnt say where.
After reading thread on cleaning them I wish put in a new one and clean the old one and keep for a spare.

Cheers Lyle

I have an 04 model 3.0 ltr and was wondering how you came to know that this sensor needed replacing?
Thanks Alan

I replace mine every 10-15k why? because they are one of the main reasons for the 3L engine failures as when they go haywire they send the wrong info back to your ECU and bingo one stuffed engine, I'd rather spend the ~$300 every couple of months than $9-12k for a new donk

Try another nissan dealer, I bought mine from the local dealer for $215.00 I have found some of these young blokes in spare parts don't know what you are talking about and give you a price for what they think the part is.When I changed mine the metal strips were black and the new one's were silver, so just chucked the old one over my shoulder, for $200.00 I will buy another new one when I need it.

Hi Lyle,
Don't really know what made the difference as I did a full service at the time (ie: oil change, all filters) and took the roof rack off as well, but picked up 5 mile to the gallon,I know the roof rack would make some of the difference but just don't know how much.

Lyle,
Ask for part # 22680-AD210.

It is NOT in their parts catalouge, as it was a modification, not a spare part, if that makes sense!!!!!! Most parts sales people dont know this as it was first issued to the service dept's not the parts dept's. Don't ask why as I don't understand myself.

The above part # is for models 10/2002 onwards.

I paid $220 for mine. As I am fitting a Toyota motor following the POP of my motor I have a near new spare one available to buy, I carried it with me as a backup for various trips and have used it once on Cape York when the original got dust on the wire, when I got back to Cairns I cleaned to original and re fitted it so this one has been used for 500-800km.

I also have a new (unused) serpentine belt available.

Colin.

Hunter,

try an email to Nizzbits@hotmail.com Brett & Garry do great prices on Nissan parts. Example; Nissan turbo. $2200 thru the dealer, $1600 from these guys. New key for the Patrol this week - $80 bucks cut. Dealer price was $100 plus GST.

Well worth an enquiry. Your MAF will be somewhere between $180 and $200. All genuine Nissan parts. Also try the Nissan Patrol Forum if you want more info.

Cheers. Mick

Yep, another vote for Nizzbits. I buy all my genuine parts through them. The last MAF was $218 delivered to my door.

The Mass Air Flow sensor sits in between the air filter and intercooler on the 3Ltr Patrols (TD) It senses intake air flow and in conjunction with the ECU, determines the fuel flow supplied to the engine. If this becomes dirty (oil mist) it sends an incorrect reading to the ECU and in turn incorrect fuel flow, which is not good. I don't know if the 4.2 has a MAF sensor, but it is an issue with the 3Ltrs mainly.

The Nissan price quoted is for the MAF control unit, what you want is the MAF sensor which is located just above the air filter unit in the air intake and is held in place by 2 screws ( they will come with new sensor ). They cost ~$320 from Nissan
