Answer, bugger all, if you will excuse the lingo. (thread 58885)
North of 650 hits means an awful lot of 'fellow travellers' are as concerned with the very real worry of how to share the road when both vehicles in most cases have similar problems with the potential for a tragic outcome.
I think there would be very few people that think the road train drivers are anything but professional, you certainly don't get THOSE licenses in a wheetie packet, but it surely incumbent on all of us that use rural/outback roads to drive with respect for all in order to obtain and maintain respect from others.
Just felt it was a subject worth airing,
cheers

Would definitely respect a driver of a road train than a few of the
grey nomads I have encountered over the years on our roads.

Does David sell worry beads in the ExplorOz
shop?
Sounds like they might sell
well.
North of 650 hits means people read the thread - perhaps they expected some real content...
If you think there would be very few people that think the road train drivers are anything but professional, why start with a heading implying they are lawless...
If you're this worried, and you're yet to venture out, make sure you take some heart medication.

as a 4wd traveller and holidayer plus working in the transport industry i have to say the way to treat a road train driver is with respect they are bloody hard vehicles to maintain on the road some times and if your on a dirt road or only one lane the rule is the bigger they are the bigger mess they can make so make room. it is a shame that so many people think that us truck drivers are so bad when we see some of the other idiots on the road that we have to share with. what ever happen to the good old courtesy of pulling over? i say that if you like your front windscreen you stop and get as far over as possible i do. they are hard to drive and on dirt harder to keep straight. but come on what ever happened to the respect for all road uses that every body use to have i have seen so very silly thing on the highways from caravaners that for sure.

David
You don't give up do you? if you are so concerned why don't you go back to your earlier statement and decide not to share the roads with the roadtrains. I'm sure they won't miss you.

David, just come along and do you own thing as you said in a previous post
"Don't worry about me", and "I just want to travel along at about 80 KPH".
Just shows what notice you take of a majority of the post doesn't it?
I thought today while I was driving along that you didn't have any experience in the outback, so Image Could Not Be FoundI took a photo of the front of my second trailer. It should be white in colour and it is about 12 months old.
The dark section is bare metal.
Would be a pity if the Jeep finished up like this.
You can save yourself from this sandblasted effect if you give the roadtrains a wide berth.
