I will be passing through
Alice Springs in the next few weeks and would like to have the Troopy serviced and generally checked over. What are the recommendations from members who know the area.
Names and contact details would be appreciated.

G'day Dick,
We are currently camped near Alice and had my lux repaired under warranty by Peter Kittle Motors (Toyota dealership)yesterday. One of the pulleys on the fan belt assembly was rumbling when hot.
Although they didn't have the replacement part, rather than holding us up from our travels, Ray Ludick of the service department sourced and fitted a new bearing to the old pulley and got us on our way.
Would pay to book in a few days prior to your arrival....I think they have fixed prices for general servicing as
well.
Others who live locally may know of smaller workshops if that is your preference.
Cheers,
Paul

Just got the Mighty Mazda back from Alice Off Road Mechanical
Services today. He's a Toyota specialist I see, and has worked on a number of Finke buggies judging from the pics in the office.
Small operator with 2 mechanics and I am happy with the service, pricing and atmosphere from Jim. First time I have used him so he didn't know me from a tub of hand cleaner, and he was very good about doing only what I asked for; no attitude just because I'm female. Offered good advice on a simple problem I have with a bicycle rack too.

Hey Dick,
It's time I explored
Mataranka and
Katherine - especially the thermal pools seeing it's so flipping cold here in Alice!

Gday,
As Sologrrrrrrl said, Jim is a good mechanic.
I take my car to Paul Heinzel on the Stuart Highway (P&D Heinzel).
Kittles would definately not be my first choice.
Cheers
