G'day Warfer,

I'm not sure if you saw my follow up in thread 58185 but when I was looking for a honda 20 a few weeks ago I found what I thought was a pretty good deal at Scan-hi in Hoddle Street Richmond for $1,720 after the $200 cash back honda are offering at the moment. The guy down there was also throwing in a fuel can, Oil and a carry bag.

I ended up getting the Kipor 2 kva which I'm fairly happy with.

Cheers

Hiya Paul i recall that thread now...Why do you say fairly,Do you think you should hav gone the Honda ???

Now i just say sell me what i want do me a deal or i am Walking out your store as we speak, when they start this,we hav another type rubbish (I'm getting hot under the collar just typing about it,lmao) ..Wont tolerate there crap anymore..

I bought the Honda Buffalo that i originally wanted and guess what,Starts first time everytime..

Cheers Bud

Can't go wrong with the Honda although I have the Kipor 2.6KVa which has been brilliant after 3-4 years of tough use..Honda is a no gamble their stuff is 1st class.

G'day again Warfer,

No, I'm fairly happy with it. 'Fairly' only because I've only had it for a fortnight but it does run reasonably quietly and didn't use as much fuel as I expected. I've run it for about 5 hours all up so far.

Would I have been happier with the Honda? Well, I paid $1,200 for the Kipor 2 kva in lieu of $1,720 for the Honda 20 and given the Kipor is basically the Honda 20 in a different shell I suppose I have to be happy.

Furthermore, general comments in this forum over the past couple of months reflect that the Kipor has come a long way since being first introduced a couple of years ago and the new series appear to be much better than the first.

Glad your happy with the Honda Buffalo mate. How will it go mowing the block up the bush?......lol
I know I went through 3 mowers trying to clear my beach block a few years back but now have the Toro which handles it much better.....LOL

Cheers.

The Kipor isn't really a Honda in a different shell. To my knowledge the Kipor uses and older Honda engine design as it's base and Kipor build the rest.? The "Rest" of the build qlty I wouldn't compare with the Honda for the sake of comparing Apples with Apples etc.

There are little things with the Kipor that don't match the Honda, the pull zip cord rubs away the external plastic if you pull from an angle. The rubber feet aren't secured as well and can break. If you ever pull off the plastic exterior shell you will notice it's very very delicately put together around the engine.

My 2.6KVa Kipor 3000ti has worked in a salt air enviroment for 3-4 years now and done well, I needed the extra 600watts and the generator only cost around $1200 so from an investment perspective so far the Kipor has been a great buy. If my life depended on it I would buy the Honda off course.

G'day Warfer,

Yep, the manual does stipulate that you should give the gennie a run every month or so just to keep it ticking over. I've seen other forums though where some people state that they haven't done that and have not had any problems. I suppose the main thing would be if you were heading away would be to make sure you run the gennie a couple of days prior just to make sure its running OK.

Cheers.

I have a brother who picked a EU20I Honda up in Perth at the caravan show as well. He loves it. You can also check them out online at http://www.uspowerco.com. THanks for the discussion. Very informative.

Smells like an advertising link to me sorry.! I don't see how buying a Honda generator at a Perth Caravan show relates to www.uspowerco.com ..?
