Sir Kev & Darkie
Ok here is the scenario................................................
I am home alone with the 2 kids so I can't ask them hehe
But how do you tell if eggs are fresh.
Do they float??
Or
Do they sink??
Cheers Sir Kev

I found this, google is your friend......
For a test just to see if the eggs are all right to use, dissolve 2 tablespoons salt in 2 cups cold
water, then put the egg in the
water. If it sinks, it's good; if it floats, it's too old.
Eggs act this way in
water because of the air sac present in all eggs. As the egg ages, the air sac gets larger because the egg shell is a semi-permeable membrane. The air sac, when large enough, makes the egg float.

Hey Warfer,
Just a close to home trip for the long weekend. Headed up to a
camp site on the Freestone
Creek Road. Great little spot with room for a few camper trailers.
Great weather and magnificent food - tried baked potatoes in the
camp oven - the ones with garlic, bacon, cheese, coldslaw & sour cream - worked perfectly!
Did you get away?
Tim

hey Kev,
If they sink they're ok, if they float they're not. You don't need to put salt in the
water...just plain
water.

Thanks Viv and Tim,
The kids can now have fresh boiled eggs. I had a couple floating and couldn't remember if they were supposed to sink or not LOL
Cheers Kev

If it were left up to me, I wouldn't help him. Just let him get in the Poo when his wife comes home for not being able to do something as basic as giving his kids a bit of a feed. Serve him right. Maybe next time He'll put a Caney on the Barbey for the poor little mites.
Fair Dinkum!!

Hello Willem & Judith,
We had about 25pts which was great and the crops are coming up
well. It's been cold here too, really frosty in the mornings.
I hope that you enjoyed your time at Dunolly.
All the best
Viv & Ray

as a matter of interest if you are travelling and wish to keep eggs fresh for an extended period coat the shell with vaseline.this keeps air out and extends life considerably [an old yachties trick not
mine] peter
