tyre size

I have 215/60 R16 tyres on my current car but i want to fit 215/70 R16 tyres on it will the bigger sidewall have any affect on the car? and is there any problem in doing this?

Hi Sawfly,
It may make the vehicle a bit more 'rolly' in corners but that is only under high performance situations. Just need to check the wheel arch clearance. I did a similar thing & realized that they decreased the clearance enough for the tyre to scrape on the guards in not so extreme conditions - not a good idea.
Also, make sure the new tyre has durable side walls.

Had the same problem with our Subaru Forester...could not find a suitable tyre for stoney roads.. blew plenty when rocks fractured sidewalls..still travelled to every state.
Currently running 215/65 Cooper CS4 Have performed well so far,the extra height cures the speedo error and they dont foul the guards. The strongest tyre I could find in this size was a Goodyear Cargo 215/65 LT light truck construction that was fitted to the Falcon Ute RV...have not tried this tyre.
215/70 although tempting are just to tall to fit.
