we pulled up at roadside stop today in the middle of the stop is a large turd complete with used toilet paper not 20m from the toilet
for these pigs i would pull the trigger

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately there is a law against pulling triggers. I won't tell anybody, promise ;-)

I know there is a law against rubbishing our great land, but we can't stop filth acting like filth.

Sorry to hear your trip ended with such a filthy and disgusting act.

Besides that, hope you had a ball.

The driving habits of many Qlders have changed dramatically in the last 15 years. Now I'm not going to be popular for saying this, but one reason has been the huge influx of drivers moving here from other states. (As I did a long time ago.)
And yes I often travel at 20K below the speed LIMIT on motorways etc. I will also pull over if I'm holding up traffic, even if the sods won't let me back in.
The number of interstate tourists dawdling on the GC is amazing. I understand that they are looking, unsure of where to go (although I could sometimes tell them :) etc.
But then you go to their home state and God help you if you try and pull the same caper!

Too right, there's no law against travelling slower than the speed limit. If those following would just stay back a bit it would make it a lot easier for us to pull over to let em past, but most of em are Tailgaters and you aren't game to slow down otherwise they'll run you over?? All in all we just need to be aware of other peoples needs and share the road as if it is a public asset rather than a private speedway or "Dawdle lane"

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is actually a law against travelling too far below the speed limit as a friend was booked some years ago for doing exactly that.

Jeff, that law depends upon the circumstances at the time. Certainly, holding up fast moving traffic for an inordinate amount of time might do the trick. But as with far too many laws, the officer on the scene has discretionary powers. In other words, if you cause him to be annoyed after a bad day, there's any number of "laws" that he can apply.
Of course just being booked doesn't mean a thing. You can take the law to court..IF you have the resources. But you'd need to be pretty sure of yourself, and willing to spend the national debt just to prove a point.

Yes, the offence is "Unreasonably Obstructing Traffic" and it mostly applies to parking or other such things, not to actually driving slowly.

Now I have come across people having slow races around towns and thereby obstructing the normal flow of traffic, these were certainly booked for the offence.

Notso, as they should have been. Anyone endangering the lives of others, be it for going to quickly or too slowly needs to be booked.
But many people, especially teenagers are taught that they can't drive below the speed limit. Madness!

Yeah the worst of it is that if they see a speed limit sign that says 100Kph then they think that it is safe to drive at that speed no matter what the conditions. The things that really gets at me is when the TV announcer sits there and says

"Severe Fog causes 20 car pile up on the F3" ,

when she should have been saying,

"Idiot drivers travelling too fast in the conditions cause 20 car pile up etc."

Yep, used to travel the F3 from its opening until the time I changed states. There were so many idiots in the fog that I was amazed at some of the near misses. Travelling in the slow lane can also have its dramas of course, especially if you come across idiots without any tail lights.
But I still rekkon Macquarie Pass was the worst for the fog. One night my brother had to get out and walk to show Dad where the edge of the road was. You'd get run over these days!

Well, Steve, I do hope you had a better time on your trip than your posts seem to indicate. I'm one of those that now drive 20k under the limit , but I wont be apologising for it, I make every effort to minimise my impact on other road users by keeping left
& pulling over if necessary. Perhaps you had better get used to slower travellers as we are a growing breed. And werent you
towing as well ?. I do hope your travelling experiences improve,
Although not needing to look at fuel prices must, indeed, be a
comfort. :)). ...oldbaz.

I for one do not mind if someone travels under the limit, as long as its not in the right lane!
One hate of mine is the caravanners who travel at 80-85 on the single highway , then immediately up to 100-105 on ( 100 kmh) dual carriageway. I can see the reasoning as usually the road surface is better on the dual and there is more room for sway.
But it would be much more polite to let the tailback pass then speed up.
Happens with cars too. I once followed a Hilux diesel trying to pass a Falcon for about 100Kms. 90 on the single , 105 on the dual (100 zone), and cut in before the Hilux could gather enough momentum to pass.
I reckon there would have been homicide if the Hilux guy had a gun.
Similarly, the guy who travels at 80 but pulls over to let the tailback go at the first opportunity gets my praise.
Regards Philip A

Wife and i just travelled from newcastle to caloundra, and sure enought people who were towing doing 80 in slow lanes then speeding up in dual lanes, made life exciting and dangerous at the same time for the people wanting to pass!!!

I bidded my time and waited till it was safe!!!

then add the cowboy truckies who were doing 115 plus to get to were they were going!!!

I think on the trip up and back there was like 10 -15 cowboys including some from well know companies!!!!!!

but i'm not pionting the finger just stating what i have observed.

I would only point the finger if i had photo's.

Really cheesed off about the cowboy trucker who tailgated us for like most of the way from caloundra!!!!

Also saw a white toyota camry with NO TAIL LIGHTS, and a green ford escort with NO LOW BEAM!!!

Was also amazed at how many drivers who had misaligned headlights, everybody who reads this please check you headlight alignment!!!!!

Question 1. Why were they "cowboys" ? You have never done 115kph before ?

Question 2. Tailgated you "from" Caloundra ?? thought you were traveling 'to' caloundra? Either way did it ever occur to you to ask yourself the question "why is he tailgating me" ?

Question 3. Doesn't require an answer as you have obviously never driven a truck, let alone done a trip in one from Newcastle to Caloundra, which automatically puts you in the "expert at truck driving" department along with all the polly's who make all the truck driving rules.

Hi Pezza, according to my d/l it says MR!!! I have have done the HR test and passed it first time! Plus i have driven Trucks with road ranger boxes in it!

When a truck passes you @ 120klms per hour and they are limited to 105 max, what do you call them???

Obvisously you didn't read this little gem!!! "I think on the trip up and back there was like 10 -15 cowboys including some from well know companies!!!!!!"

We were sitting on somewhere between 110 -120 klms an hour, i wasn't going to push it, not after the morning before almost getting booked for almost 30 over the limit!!!

Do you think thats stupid of me????

Mate i have a truck liecese and i look out for the truckies and car drivers, but like every other tom dick and sally who wants to get somewhere people will do the damdest of things to satisfy themselves!

Next time i will get number plates and video footage for you! Oh and the police!

SMILE
