A group of us with caravans will be travelling to WA next week via Halls Creek, Derby,Broome,Port Hedland,Tom Price, Mt Augustis, Perth etc. We have heard that Diesel fuel is in short supply, and I would like to hear what the sitution is, plus prices.

Diesel is getting close to $2 Litre in some out of the way places, no supply shortage though.
Everything here runs on diesel NOT petrol, so petrol is in short supply in the bush simply because it's not used, some servo's up north don't even sell petrol any more.

From memory it was on the western end of the GRR, on the left, it only had Diesel pumps. (2004)

It did sell window stickers though, I remember that.
Someone will tell us the name of the Servo I'm sure.

Maybe.

In most remote areas the 'taditional landowners' still have a penchant for Magnas and Falcons which run on petrol and they live there full time - they're not just tourists passing through occasionally like us. Also all most station mustering buggies run either the Suzuki petrol or transplant in Corolla / Gemini motors and all the motorbikes are petrol.

I've never had problems getting ULP.

the situation is getting desperate.
it is actually worse than the media have been told.
so much so, that as from next wednesday, when you are passing through the w.a. border, not only do you have to give up your fruit etc at the quarantine, the fitting of a hyclone will be compulsory.

Now you have to catch your own camel and use that for propulsion.

Actually you are allowed to keep cabbages and baked beans when entering WA provided you have a gas powered vehicle. If you have solar power you can sell that in the grid as most of our power is gas powerd.
Pretty amazing to be so dependant on gas and only have less than 24 hours backup supply when it comes from 2500klm away.

we had a gas line blow up 30 percent of our supply. every thing is slowing down here as no gas no production . some places are using a bit more diesel to keep going but there is a lot of mine sights slowing production right down even shutting for a while so ther should be a bit of a glut in diesel. but this is probaly a way of putting up the price of diesel.
