G'Day
I've been "Given" a 1988 73 Series Traytop to try my hand at an electric conversion. But I cant seem to find Specs anywhere on the net. I've got the Yota Workshop manuals for my 1991 Troopy, but haven't been able to find any for the 73 Series....1988 wasn't that long ago - was it..?? Can anyone give me, GVM, curb weight, front & rear axle weights, engine HP, diff ratios, etc..???
Cheers
Rob

You are actually talking about two seperate models.
The 73 series is the mid wheelbase which was only available as a small wagon with FRP rear upper body section.
Had full landcruiser weight running gear and was powered by either a 13bt 4cyl turbo diesel or the 3F petrol six.
The traytop in 1988 was a 75 series powered by either a 2H diesel or the 3F petrol six.

Damm - I should have picked that myself..!!
My previous vehicle was a BJ73FRP though
mine was 3.4L naturaly aspirated diesel - (may have been a 3B from memory)
....If I can rely on the info Ive got,
Its definitely a traytop. Non turbo & diesel.
So I am now looking for 75 series specs - that should make them easier to find...!!
Thanks for that.

qubert, I beg to differ, the 1hz wasn't introduced until 1990 with the first of the 80 series.
I had both an 88 with a 2H and a 90 with a 1HZ.
The 70's after 1990 were available with either a 1HZ or a 1PZ ( 5 cylinder version of the six) depending on models.

Gday Rob,
I have a few old LandCruiser brochures tucked away from when I was "dreaming" of ever owning a new 4wd!
A 73 traytop would be a funny looking beast - would turn heads though :-)
Cheers
Phil

Only one minor problem...I cant read the info..!!
Ive printed it out, played with it in photoshop, and i still cant get the numbers legible, I can guess most of them.
The Traytop in question is the last of the old body shape I am told.
any chance of sending me a copy at :
Robert.Duncan at auspost.com.au
Thanks again

Rob,
Yeah I wondered about that - Exploroz has reduced the resolution. I've emailed the original to you.
The diesel traytops went as follows:
HJ47 (really old shape) up until 1984
HJ75 (almost current shape) with 2H diesel 1985-1989
HZJ75 with 1Hz diesel 1990-1999
HZJ79 from 1999 to 2006 (coil spring front end)

G'Day Phil
I think it has to be HJ75 - my troopy is 1991 HZJ75 which is the newer (but not brand new) shape. The Traytop is the older style with the doors angled inward at the front edge so that you feel like your driving sideways..!!
It may even be HJ47, I am itching to get up and have a good look at it, the body is fine, straight with one small (10 cent coin sized) rust patch, and its spent all its life in the Mid North of SA so it hasn't seen a lot of
water - salt lakes perhaps but I hope not..!!
Cheers
Rob
