Hi this may be of some help?
I have had no problems with the mirrors vibrating on my 80 but i suspect something is broken in side.
My sons Mazda drivers side mirror was vibrating. After pulling it apart i found a broken clip holding the mirror to the power adjustment. repaired it with some hot melt glue
as it was all plastic and araldite would not take.
It realy needs a new mirror assembly and i think you will possibly need the same if you can't find anything broken or worn.
Rob.

I had this problem with my 80ser. When I took the glass out I found that a piece of the plastic inside was broken. I glued it together with some super glue and have no problems since.

common problem - the part cannot be bought new.
It was beyond repair with
mine so I bunged a heap of liquid nails in and adjusted the mirror where i wanted it while it dried

Davoe,
The part CAN be bought new. Its just that it comes with the entire mirror assembly, drivers door and portions of the sub-frame attached!
Unfortunately I lost the little plastic bit and had to replace the entire mirror. This resulted in one of those "Toyota Spare Parts Moments" that I am so fond of. Salesman told me the price of a new mirror, I told him that no I didn't want the effing door with it. Strangely enough, he didn't think I was as funny as I thought I was.
If repairs fail, E-Bay is your friend.
Matt.

First thing to check is that the phillips head screw accessible thru the bottom of mirror is tight.
as others have mentioned the bit of plastic the screw goes into has a habit of breaking off/spliitting
a blob of "U- need it" is the way to go . then tighten the screw before the u-need it sets.
cheers
Howard

Underneath the mirror housing there is a hole where you can access a screw inside the assembly
Tighten the screw (dont overtighten it) with a phillips head screwdriver & see if it helps

Hi Tony,
As the guys have said check to to see if the screw underneath is tight but DO NOT over tighten it.
If it is the lugs that the mirror hangs on are broken like
mine were, I made a pair of brackets out of .5 mm aluminum and pop riveted them on and rehung it. Then I used Roofing Silicone to take the wobble out of it. It also helps hold them in place.
I also checked the passenger side one and put silicone in it as
well.
Been down some pretty Corrigated roads and they haven't let go yet, (Touch Wood).
hope this helps.
