Hi, i have a fault with the controller on my 80 series sub fuel tank tank pump, when you press the button to transfer fuel nothing happens, and found out that the control box thats mounted in the rear guard is stuffed, so i hooked up power to the solenoid and fuel pump and all works fine. what i would like to know is if set this up with power through a switch can i continue to use it like this with no problems. any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Mark.

the controller in the rear guard is a relay , and yes you can control with your switch , make sure it's fused

Mark,

Would probably work OK, just need to watch that you don't run the pump dry otherwise you will be up for a bit more for repairs. The other thing to remember is that the fuel pump runs for 30 seconds or so on start up to ensure that fuel in the sub tank gets used. No biggy if you use it regularly I suppose.

Why not try to get a relay from the wreckers? Few people wrecking 80s on E-Bay at the moment as well. Contact one of them and you may get a replacement for a reasonable price.

Matt.
