Hi all,
just getting permission to get access into a goldfield today, on a remote station and while chatting to one of the station hands by phone, he was very pleased that we actually contacted them first to know where we were going and how long we intended being in there. He breifly told us what happened to a prospector a couple of years back when they were mustering, by chopper and driving 14,000 head of cattle into a
creek bed, where the prospector, who had failed to notify them was camped.!! A nice rude shock !

That works almost every time Uncle. Ask permission and many times they will even tell you the best place to
camp.
Little hint, take the latest newspaper to them too, they will think that's the ants pants.

Also take some spring
water ( bottled
water ) for him -- every time we wend out bush to a property - we would bring some and he was always very happy and a few cases of soft drink also :)

GDay Uncle
We go to the same property in Qld every year. We ring up each time and let them know we are coming. This way you will find out if they have just baited with 1080 and any other infor that may be of interest.
We take a fresh fruit tray each time and drop in and have a cuppa with the owners.
Its also the right thing to do.
Cheers
Howard

Thanks very much for those extra tips guys.Heading out there today. We called in to see a previous station manager 3 days ago , and I always ask if anyone else is out there as
well. his reply was nope. When we got out there , we came across 3 other couples!! It would be there own fault if he sends in shooters while they are out there then.

All very important advice, not only for you but for those who might also wish to visit in the future.
I always ask if there's anything that I can bring them from town.

Yes very important advice; not only is it good manners but its also a saftey issue. If someone knows you are there and there is a bushfire or if you don't return hopefully help will be sent.
