Hi there
My husband has just changed the Timing Belt at 115,000ks and now needs to reset it.
He's been told it might be behind the dash, is this right?
Will he need to take the dash apart to reset the Timing Belt?
Cheers

I presume it is the warning light your talking about, but when I had the timing belt changed I noticed that the trip meter had been rest back to zero. You could have fiddle with that but I am only taking a stab in the dark.

Cheers

If you go to the landcruiser owners club web site you should be able to find the awnser to that.Other wise check your manual.
On the 100 series its done via the trip meter button not shore about the hilux

If you have an electronic speedo, try the procedure described herefor the 100series and see if it works.

The hilux has a light globe which illuminates behind the instrument cluster. You have to remove the instrument cluster and remove a screw and fit it to the hole next to where it was fitted. This will reset the timing belt light.
Are you sure it needed replacing as I am pretty sure its supposed to be done at 150 000 km?

No point asking, sounds like he's already done it.

120scruiser is right, it is a fiddly job. Toyota schedule it every 150,000 kms.

Gday Mrssummo
The high lux that i had, had a small rubber plug at the bottom of the speedo near the mileage reset pusher. Remove the rubber plug and insert a long thin probe ie inside of a ball point pen...and push to reset.

The old Lux's did it that way but the newer ones changed with the times.

Logical answer is ask Toyota they must do it often enough.
If all else fails read the manual.
