I have just had my 2000 B2600 converted to LPG and all is going well- does not feel any loss of power in normal driving but will have to wait until next week to see how it tows Jayco camper up Cunningham's Gap.

But, I was advised to put in a new oxygen sensor and have it retuned to optimise economy. I have bought a new sensor and the instructions say blue wire to computer, white to gound. My question is, the two wires into the old sensor are black and grey, which of these goes to computer and which one to ground?

Thanks

Matt

What are the wiring colours on the harness?

For Zirconia sensors:-

Zirconia 1-wire: BLACK = signal
Zirconia 2-wire: BLACK = signal
GREY = ground
Zirconia 3-wire: BLACK = signal
WHITE = heater
WHITE = heater
Zirconia 4-wire: BLACK = signal
GREY = ground
WHITE = heater
WHITE = heater

For Titania sensors:-

Titania type 1 RED = heater +ve
WHITE = heater +ve
YELLOW = signal +ve
BLACK = signal -ve
Titania type 2 GREY = heater +ve
WHITE = heater -ve
YELLOW = signal +ve
BLACK = signal -ve
Titania type 3 BLACK = signal
GREY = ground
WHITE = heater
WHITE = heater

I got this from googling "UK Oxygen sensors"
black is your signal

Hi Matt, Off subject a little bit, I am getting myn converted on the 13 of August to LPG, was just wondering why you have to replace the oxygen sensor ???. They are actually fittng one into my exhaust as the 95 series prado dont have one and he said will give it better economy and fuel delivery, they also run a little piggy back computer for the gas system, but never said anything to me about getting retuned. I thought the computer would do all this for you ?? I dont know, will be all new to me this gas set up never has it before. The only thing he advised me to do was get the valve clearance's checked and replace plugs, and leads. Regards Steve M

Steve,

The installer said to me when I picked it up that my oxygen sensor was not working properly and that I should change it then bring it back for a tune up. They advised consumption on petrol and LPG would be compromised until I did this.

LPG is all new to me as well. Did it to make owning the fourby months cheaper and hopefully will recoup $ within 18 months.

There is a whole lot of new paraphernalia under the bonnet now that I will have no idea about if anything goes wrong- at least one thing looks computery- I assume they will change some settings with the new O2 sensor on this. Early days but so far all I have noticed is smoother idling but I am very curious to see how it will go towing next week. Also am enjoying how seemless it is to swap between fuels.

Cheers
