The second battery in the car is now six years old and due for a replacement. Anyone know much about these LiFePO4 units?

Yeah - nice idea, but they are not yet up to the reliability you'd want in
the desert.
I've tried to get some to try out in the application, because their specs look pretty good, but none of the suppliers want to touch this application yet.
There is still quite a bit of development going on and improvement in the
resilience of the packaging/cell structure
