Sorry to report - Birdsville finally hit the $2 mark for diesel this week and the other service station will probably hit $2 today when a new load of fuel arrives.

Ruth

Considering that 400 kms out of Perth diesel is and has been $2 a litre for the past 6 months I reckon $2 at Birdsville is a bloody good price. Lets face it, its $1.90 in the city so a 10c difference is pretty damn good. We dont like the price, but when you do the comparison between city and Birdsville I dont think we can complain at all.

Cheers

Richard,
Queensland's fuel is not taxed as heavily as the rest of Aus. So average diesel price in Brisbane is 8c lower than the rest of the country.

G'day Ruth,

I must admit, I was expecting to have to pay around $2.50 up there in a couple of weeks, so $2.00 or so is quite "cheap" (hahahaha).

Looking forward to catching up with you week after next.

Cheers

The price is relative

If the Birdsville resellers go broke then the trips out there have an added degree of managment,

I say bring on $2.10 $2.20 and stay in business

I will only befilling up once a year there if i'm lucky so an extra $18.00 per fill for me to be able to go back next year an so on is fine by me.

PS see ya in Birdsville in two weeks.

Regards

Trevor

PS talking about the fuel price is like talking about the weather it's just somthing to talk about. Cant change it

Trevor, the Birdsville resellers are not going to go broke - they are too good at doing business and they've been doing it a long time. The reason our fuel is so much cheaper than other places is simply because the fuel doesn't actually have to come from very far away.
The price of fuel, to you, might just be like the weather, something to talk about, but to many others at the moment, it means an enormous amount. Particularly to those who were going to Innamincka or to Birdsville or the SD or wherever and have cancelled their plans - and yes cancelleations have started.Innamincka and Birdsville's main income is tourism.

They say that fuel is dearer inland because of the cost of transporting it....then how come the price is cheaper in Ballarat than in Melbourne.......

Pay the price and be happy!
Once the bombs start falling on Iran(and they will eventually).
Who knows what the price will be? $4.00 a litre i would guess.

So Ruth,
If we have to fork out more for fuel, then we can't buy food. We expect the locals to tell us how to get hold of the Diamantina Barra and crays :-))

And as of yesterday, we have our first granddaughter :-))))) We're still grinning.

Cheers

Finally, she is arrived! Congratulations - isn't it wonderful to be Grannies?
The Diamantina Barra last Saturday night was SOOOOOOO delicious, with a slice of home-grown lemon, hand cut chips cooked in Rice Bran Oil (new in town - holds its heat beautifully) and a little salad grown in the back garden and a nice Pinot Noir Chardonnay.
The yabbies have all disappeared, blast!
Enjoy the baby.

Don't know much about being a granny yet - but I've got plenty of grey hair (what little is left), so I suppose thats a good start :-)

Gday Roachie,

To be like Pesty I'd have to get a Landcruiser with a few more seats - 60series would make a good grandpa vehicle!

Can't help but spoil grandkids.......I'll happily take the little ones camping until they are sick of it.......come to think of it, thats what happened to our mob ;-)))
