Some vans of this type had the kitchen at the rear but this model has it at the front. The axle is still in the same position towards the rear
Question, has this increased the towball weight to an unacceptable level?

Hi Billplant,
When in doubt, check it out.
Take it to a weigh-bridge and for a small fee you will know for sure.
Don't forget to weigh the whole van, then just the van wheel weight and then just the ball weight by placing the jockey wheel only on the weigh-bridge deck.
Make sure the tanks are either full or empty so that calculations will be more precise. I will help to either have a holiday loading or empty and weigh every thing when you put it in. Then you will know for sure.
When finished ensure you write it all down for future reference.
You may already know this method.
Regards,
Bruce

thanks Bruce, I was thinking of buying this van and was concerned that the ball weight was high as I had seen some dragging a bit.
So I will take it down to weigh, what is the acceptable range for ball weight? Hilux ute.

Read the manual is probably the place to find that.
Tha ball weight should be between 10-15% of the tare weight or the loaded weight if thats what you are weighing

Hi billplant,
I had this model Challenger and found it was a BIG problem.
I was unable to use the front storage area, except for light items,
as the ball was over weight. It was necessary to store most things under the rear bed.
It was such a pain, I sold the dam thing.
