We are doing the big trip WA to Tassie early Aug and need over night stops for horses. We can sleep in the truck (though shower/loo would be nice) but horses need a yard or paddock. I have freinds in Minnipa and Tailem Bend so that is those nights. Are there any places in Norseman and Eucla where I can hire a yard/paddock overnight?

Are they used to electic fence, just pull off the track into the scrub somewhere and belt in some droppers and wrap some elec fence tape around and plug into an inverter?
We used to use it to keep the kids in and it worked OK.

From farming background, but not into horses, just a suggestion!!!

Sorry no animal accomodation out there yet. As suggested perhaps by providing your own fencing might be the best answer that way you will have a little more flexibility as to where you stop etc. Good luck with it. Hope they don't keep asking 'when will be there' like most kids.

Try Mundrabilla Station. Not far of the road and may let you use yards etc.

Norseman has a race course, sometimes with a caretaker, sure they would welcome you & horses. Cheers John

OK I think I have it sorted now, and thanks to all who replied. I've also spoke to a professional horse transporter who does this regularly!

Norseman we use the yards at the race track and I have a number for them.

He didn't recommend staying overnight at Eucla (they have yards at the caravan park but they charge $20 a horse per night and no water at the yards) but did say try Mundrabilla station instead.

I will also take a hot tape set up just in case, and if hubby snores too loud in the truck he can go out there with the horses!!!

Transport guy told me to go through Adelaide (instead of round it like I had planned, to try to avoid that hill coming out!) and the best way through Melbourne to the docks!

He also told me that general folks travelling the Nullabor are very pleasant and helpful if you get into trouble which is nice to know!
