Can anybody tell us if the Aboriginal Wunambal Gaambera Corporation (WAC) is still charging travellers an entry fee to the
Mitchell Plateau at the
King Edward River Crossing. If so how much is it these days or is it covered by the National
Park Pass. The book We are looking at is 4 years old. We will be heading towards there on the 27th July.

We went there last year and there was no fee to get there, just the usual
camping fees if you stay overnight.

No... they never were charging to access
Mitchell Plateau to my knowledge.
They may have been charging to use the campgrounds at KER, but not to my knowledge either.
It is not part of the National Parks so if they were legitimately (eg. had a legal right) to charge for access, it would only have been in their own right somehow... but I think that is pastoral land anyways - the cattle are certainly still grazing in and around there.
I do know that National Parks were instrumental (read they funded) and contributed to a lot of the work with erecting the dunnies, the visitor facilties around the art sites and fencing.
