Hi John, just looked at your profile. Why would you not keep what you have and use that ?? As Stefan has asked 4.2 or 3 litre ?? The hilux will tow no problems and is
well and truly reliable enough. Regards Steve M

The 4.2 is one of the most reliable motors arround, and the 3lt is one of the most unreliable. If its a 3lt do as steve suggests and stick with what you have.

Pete isn't talking about the size of the motor being the problem, it's the actual 3.0L Nissan motor itself that has had lots of trouble. I can see your reason for selling the Hilux but if you want storage I would keep the ute and build storage shelves in the back with gullwing type doors. I have a Prado wagon at the moment and after 6 months on the road I reckon that's the way to go for maximum storage. I have also found that with my generator (that is kept in the camper), even when empty you can still smell petrol so I wouldn't have it in the back of my wagon. Just my thoughts and experiences though.
Cheers,
Mark.

Do a search on 3.0 Patrols and you won't even want to
park next to one. Tick Tick Tick
