I'm interested in visiting visiting
blackdown tableland national park .
I see on the national
park web site , they don't advise trailers , has anyone been there and give me an idea as to the condition of the road as I have a
camping trailer .

Steep, windy and slippery in the wet. The Nat Parks people would be the ones to ask.

i vaugely recall reading somewhere not long ago it had been bitumined all the way to the top aswell, was on another
forum somewhere so don't take my word 100% for it.
we were there in 2006 and i wouldn't hesitate to take a decent camper trailer there, although the climb to the top is pretty steep and will give a heavily laidened vehicle a work out.

Yes, bitumen now right to the top of the range (
Horseshoe Lookout), but still dirt (with pea gravel) from there on to the
camping ground. Not much more than a one-lane road in most
places.
Cheers,
John

It has ben a few years since I was up there but the road up was steep and winding VERY WINDING.
If you do lose traction there is nowhere to turn round.
It was a good road and I guess it is as good or better now but I would
check with them on conditions.
A
well set up camper trailer and tow rig should make it up OK but I can see that inexperienced drivers could get into trouble very quickly.

Yes its a steep climb. I went up with a dual axle camper, and a mate in a Off Road Van. Neither of us had any problems. It had rained the day before and road was still damp.
We were in HR on the way up but used LR for the steep down
hill parts.

Now that's starting to sound interesting!
Remember the back road up to the Bunyas with the CT on the back.
High range all the way but was down to 2nd gear a fair bit.
