Hi Reiner,
Try Trading Post . There seems to be a few
winches under 4WD accessories and some less than $1000.

about 1600 for a 9500lb warn new. i went through all this and ended up buying a tmax 10000lb for $1000. good too fits in same hole ( no mods). 3/8 cable , and pulls good too, i had it pretty hot too and didnt seem to affect it.

Last week I met one fellow and he told me that he has brand new Warn from Toyota dealer for $800 or $900, do not remember exactly, but definitely less then $1000. I did not believed him, but he was swearing that he personally bought one for his son. I still do not believe him, but it may worth to check.
BTW I am always was in believing that Toyota sells rebadged Supewinches, not Warns and this is another reason why I disbelieve him.
Cheers
Serg

I was reading some Toyo specs lately (Hubby is eying off the new V8 ute & comparing it to his 70 whatever series he's got). Anyway I distinctly remember reading "Superwinch" somewhere in the specs.
I have also been looking at
winches, yep you guessed it, hubby is also trying to convince me he needs one. Anyway if the TMax is around $1000 compared to $1600 for a Warn, from what I have read, and comparing the specs I would certainly be steering him towards the TMax. I have not read any bad reports on them as yet.
I compared the TMax 10000 to the Warn 9500 XP (specs, not real life testing). The speed for both was roughly the same, but initially the warn was a bit faster, however it had more current draw throughout compared to the TMax, and I'm guessing this is due to a 6hp motor compared to the TMax 6.6. So all else being along the similar lines (internals etc, which I would have not much idea about but have read that TMax is good for it where it counts) then I reckon the TMax would be just as good, and obviously cheaper because it doesn't have the "made in USofA" stamp
