I am travelling across the north for 7 months in a 2006 Nissan Patrol 4.2 ST t/diesel (cab chassis), and one of the issues I face is finding reliable diesel mechanics in advance in order to book in services. Can anyone recommend good diesel servicing businesses in Katherine (NT), Mt Isa/Cloncurry, and Cairns/Atherton Tablelands (Qld)? I'd appreciate any help - business name and town would be sufficient but the number would be great if you have it.

Hi Keith, Im at Atherton I have a GQ 4.2 patrol and do my own servicing so have a shed if your that way inclined also have room to set up a camper or caravan if you would like to set up to see the sites everything negotiable. If not i would suggest Hart wigs in Tolga, They have nissan mechanics, but also do heavey transport, Kenworth, mack, volvo, tractors, they have worked on my unit and am more than happy. My ph no 0740955526 feel free to call when you get closer and will gladly help where ever i can. I have just finished a 10 mth trip on your side of the country so understand your needs. Col

Really appreciate your great offer. However, I don't really have the skills so rely on dependable mechanics. Don't know Tolga but I may give Hartwigs a bell if it fits in. Same goes with the site - if I have time to spend a day or three around Atherton I'll give you a bell.

Cheers Keith
