Morning
I have had the EU10i for a couple of months now and it has done around 40 hours max. Yesterday morning we lost power at home and I thought it’s time to crank the Honda so we could use the blender for our brekkie and run the house fridge. For those that own one of these models you should know that they normally go on the first or sometimes the second pull….after a good 30 pulls still nothing. I guessed by then the engine got flooded and I started looking around…I opened the air filter and it was wet from fuel I let it dry for a couple of minutes and then took out the spark plug and poured a couple mm of fuel down the hole, put plug back in and 3 pulls later away we go. About 30 min later the power came back on and I turned the gennie off and went to work.
When I got home that night I thought lets give it a try and see but same story pulled and pulled and nothing.
I wouldn’t have thought that it’s time for a new spark plug just yet but maybe that will be the first thing to try?
Thoughts?

Hey Mr Troll
If the OIL level is down just a smidge the EU will not start or cuts in and out, bit like a missfire from a dodgy sparkplug. From memory if you check when sitting on a level surface, the oil dribbles out of the lip when just over the high mark on the stick. Very little difference with full and over full. But doubt anyone could over fill it if checking when unit is level. Very good engine protection having it like that.
BTW: I found out the hard way that these do NOT put out sufficient charge from the 12VDC outlet when running in ECONOMY mode for battery topup.

Hey Mate,
It’s definitely not the oil...that was the first thing I checked and I replaced the oil while I was at it as
well. I read in the book about the oil and it said if you pull the red light should come on if the level is to low and that's not happening. If it was the oil then the fuel down the spark plug hole should not have worked.

That's good you did the oil. It will start though, even if the oil is low, IF the gennie is not level and allowing the oil to lie around the oil level sensor. This is obivious though as they miss and fart etc when like that.
But it's not that. Is the fuel too old? I have never looked for a filter so god knows where it is.
Good luck then on the BCD (Beer Cooling backup Device)

The last time I used it was a month ago. I didn’t drain the fuel out from the last trip before it went back into the garage but I wouldn’t have though leaving fuel in there for a month would cause problems maybe 6 months yes but not a month

Had the same problem with my Kipor, pulled the lines apart , topped up the oil and put it back together and it started `2nd pull. Didn't ever work out what caused it though, suspect it was fuel issue of course but not what caused it.

I am guessing you have no dramas since? did you actually remove the old fuel out of the lines ?

Yes some of the fuel in the lines would have been drained in the process. No problems since, we use this Kipor on a ocean going boat and it cops a hiding out in the open, although it's covered at night etc. I make a habit to start it every few weeks and run it for 10 minutes etc, all good now.

Check that it is getting full choke, Hondas won't start without choke.
