I've got a few old Gerry cans that have had diesel in them in the past..more than a year since last used...

Do I have to run an additive or clean them out because of algae or anything like that??

Cheers

just wash them out with a bit of petrol they will be right. And if a few drops get left behind its no big deal and wont hurt anything. Just like alpine diesel then.

Old Gerry cans can tend to rust and you can find rusted particles in the bottom, check the fuel as you pour it or use a small filter etc. Flushing them with some fuel and tipping that out is also a good idea.

Diesel will last for years and still be all right.(Had a Kubota motor on a pump that had sat around for about 10 years and went to reuse it last year and decided on the off chance to see if it would go, sure enough cranked it over and away it went, left it running long enough to heat the oil in it to change it). As said above check for rust Adding new diesel will dilute the old anyway.
