OK, so I haven't got enough to do, but it's been bugging me all day. This is not meant as a "Friday funny" but I am not able to work out the answer. Can anybody help!!

3 men go into a hotel. The receptionist says the cost of a room is $30, so each man pays $10 & they then they go to the room.

A while later, the receptionist realized the room was only $25, so sent the bellboy to the room with $5 change.

On the way, the bellboy couldn't work out how to split $5 evenly between the three guests, so he gave each of them $1 and kept the other $2 for himself.

This meant that each guest paid $9 each for the room, which is a total of $27, add the $2 that the bellboy kept = $29

What happened to the other dollar??

Its actually easy, the cost of the room was $25, each man paid $9, that equals $27, $25 for the room and $2 foir the thieving Bell Boy named Kevin

Probably kinda like $50 + 30%=$65 - $65 - 30% = $45.50. Same principle I suppose.

The hotel has $25, the bellboy $2, and each man $1, total $30!

The "problem" with this old enigma is that the addition of $27 to $2 doesn't mean anything. You can see this better if you imagine the room was only $20, and each man was given back $3, and the bellboy kept $1. Now 3 x $7 + $1 = $22, so we're now missing $8! (but $20 plus 3 x $3 plus $1 still adds up to $30).

Cheers, John

LOL If you are still having trouble, try some coffee and work the sum like this. $30 paid and $5 returned = $25. Or $30 paid $3 returned to rightful owners and (add the $2 that the bellboy kept) do not add the $2 as it needs to be taken off the $27. Best of luck Tony

For cost of room - divide 25 by 3 = 8-1/3
Plus $1 returned = $9-1/3

Multiply by 3, add 2........ta da........
