I have noticed that when I open the tail gate on the cruiser my 'rear' interior light is not activating.

When I open either of the back doors it works.

Must be something wrong with the switch that activates it when the tail gate is open...but...where is it? I can't seem to locate a button or anything that would do the activating...

Any ideas???

cheers

Andrew

Mine does exactly the same thing. Every service Toyota look at it, fix it temporarily then it fails 2 days later.

Guess it must be crap in the switch (my old 80 series door swithes used to do it as well - a spray of WD spray and they would work again).

Will watch with interest

Cheers

the switch is built into the lock on the upper tailgte door. take the trim off and you will be able to see the single wire to it . the problem may be a broken wire in the rubber sleeving and grommet to the upper door. the reason the light works on other doors is because it (light) is picking the earth through one of the door switches.
it is not an uncommon problem .the wiring harness may have been pulled inadvertantly or to tight in manufacture

Here's another weird 100 series problem.

My rear wiper only works when the back doors (not tailgate) are opened. Buggered if I can get that one sorted.

Any ideas?
