The numbers represent the ratio between screen width verse screen height.
16:9....16 wide......9 high (widescreen)
I'm guessing u would end up with a 4:3 picture with a blank strip down each side of the 16:9 screen???

I run
mine that way.
My laptop is set to 800x600 (4:3), and I set my 7" screen to 16:9 because the map then occupies the full screen and its easier to read. Sure its slightly wider than it should be, but that makes no practical difference. My screen does allow you to select 4:3, but I prefer 16:9.

Well that depends......
My 7inch GPS screen is physically 16:9 but the pixel count is not 16:9. 7inch screens which are 480 pixels wide should be 272 pixels high but some (like
mine) are 234 pixels high. Running OZICE the maps are slightly stretched vertically but not enough to be a problem. The only obvious thing is the compass is not circular, it's stretched vertically oval.

Hi aza,
I have a Compaq which has a 1280x768 (roughly 16:9) screen. No probs running Ozi; one just gets more map to the sides, no distortion. The software apparently knows what to do. Handy, actually, as I can run other Ozi dialogue boxes such as Moving Map control and GPS fix to the side without losing too much map.

I have just bought the compaq laptop ($480 deal) and have loaded ozi and picked up a cheap 7" GPS touch screen off ebay and I would like to use it as a screen on the dash that runs from the computer.
It has an AV input for reverse camera dvd and so on can I get a lead that goes from the computer into the AV port that will display what the laptop is showing and then shut the laptop screen still showing the display on the 7".
All new to this
Thanks

Timewaster,
If your screen has VGA input, then its best to use a VGA cable to connect the two.
If your screen only has AV inputs (not VGA), and your computer has an S-video output, , then you can get a "4pin S-video to RCA Lead" from Jaycars for about $17.
If your computer doesn't have an S-video port, then your only option is a VGA to RCA converter, which will degrade the signal and I wouldn't bother.
My computer is an old one with a composite video out, so it hooks straight up to the screen.
Cheers
phil
