Hi all,
Does anyone know of anyone in Central Queensland that can convert a 2003 VZN167 Hilux with IFS/ leaf setup to 80/100 series live axle and coils.
If anyone has had this done somewhere else..where and how much?
Thanks
Dave

Doubt very much an 80 series axle would have any hope of fitting as the Hilux body is conciderably narrower. Combine that with trying to attach coils into an IFS chassis & you have one major engineering headache. Can I ask what you want to do with the Lux that requires this mod?

Anything's possible given sufficient time & money. $150,000 to build some winch challenge vehicles proves that. I suppose where I am heading with this is if it's for a competition car then ExOz is certainly the wrong
forum for that type of advice & if it's just to improve the ride & offroad ability of a Hilux then there are much more cost effective options available. This is certainly not a common off the shelf modification.

try posting this in the Overlander
forum under Technical, Ferret will know, he even pops by here sometimes, though these posts disappear quite quickly from this front page (ie the exploroz page).
ie got www.overlander.com.au and join and click on "Forum" then "Technical"

Hi Dave
Try the outers site as

it would be cheaper to buy an 80 series & cut it to a ute/twin cab
& to rego it would also be easier

Thanks all for the replies.
I've had an awsome 80 cut into a dual cab, but the hilux is a compromise with SWMBO and after the day out fishing with it and my recently sold 105 cruiser, she said I can make it as comfortable and capable as the cruiser was. I measured the axle widths side by side and they are close enough overall as
mine is an SR5 which has wide factory flares. I don't do comp work but want the vehicle to be as capable as the cruiser. In a few years when I inherit the old mans 105 I will chop it anyway.
