I can't afford a full gas hot
water system for the van but have come across a replacement tap that when connected to 15amp power provides "Instant Hot Water" for around $200.
Has anyone used one? and more importantly, do they live up to the manufacturers claims?
Cheers

Hi Matt,
I have one of these units at home to fill my spa with hot
water, I find it works great for my purpose. Just make sure that you use a flue or something that can vent all the hot air from the exhaust.
Water heats up instantly, you can use it for everything from showers to dishes or even wash the dog.
I find that it uses very little gas when running, batteries seem to last for a long time.( still on first set 16 months) You can adjust
water to come out at set temperature and it has a safety cut out after 20 mins.
I would recommend them as I am very happy with
mine. I have no affiliation with supplier, just a very happy customer of this item.
Hope this helps,
David

I have one of these exact same units I bought on ebay and it is unbelievable how good it is. I use it outside the van for the shower tent, I already have a suburban fitted in the van and it is not as good, I also use it to heat the spa at home.

These units are not approved for use in caravans. Any approved unit must draw its combustion air from outside as
well as exhaust to the outside air.

HI Matt,
We have installed one of those hot
water systems that you are thinking of and yes they are great. ( no more running to the laundry for hot
water) You will have to have a 15 amp power point installed. One thing though remember to switch off the power to it when mians
water not attached to van as it will damage the unit

Seakarvan - there is a review of a Duetto
water heater on www.rvpoint.com.au in their news and reviews section - or you can go straight to product site at www.ausj.com.au
Products reads
well - no interest in product.
About $380 - 240 or 12 volt.

I have both "RV Hot Water" and a "Rezi". I bought the rezi first for the shower but it cannot be in the same compartment as the
water so it needs extra plumbing and in the end it was not a viable solution.
Instead I then saw the RVHW. It is simply a flick mixer with the coil built in. It works very
well as a kitchen sink tap and I have modified it to suit the shower (just a new nozzle for the hose conn.)
The RVHW is less than $200 and works quickly and efficiently. There is an operational difference between the two (the Rezi uses two taps and is easier to control the temp). The RVHW is hotter than the Rezi and uses less power but is slightly slower (but fine for showers). The Rezi (approx $240) is fine for household use and that is now where it resides for me.
I am not sure what the "claims" are but I am more than happy with the RVHW. I saw it on show at the
camping show in BrisVegas but I have had
mine for 12 months or so. Any van
shop should be able to get them.
There are different amperages for each and I ended up with a middle range one (can't remember details) and it can run off 10a circuit but I have it on the 15a as the charger is on the same circuit.
The beauty of theses systems is they have no storage, they are cheap, and they get hot almost instantly. (Rezi 5-8 secs, RVHW 2-3secs).
The downside is you needs mains power (via landl ine or genny)
Cheers Cam

Thanks to all, what a great site.
I just thought me and the missus were getting a bit old for lugging a 20L drum of
water from the
creek to the fire.
