PRF
This is no ordinary Simpson trip and can be regarded as the hardest Simpson trip that you can do. Once you head east from the Colson Track, there is no turning back due to the virgin nature and size of the dunes. 3 dunes from the Colson track and I thought what the hell had I let my group in for. Your pace of travel will be low range first and second with short stints of third.
When we were out that way last in 2006, there was on average only 1 group out there each season, so you will very rarely see any other vehicle tracks to follow.
The lead two or three vehicles will be the trail makers, so expect high puncture rate, mostly side wall damage. If your out that way, you must drop into the Geographical Centre as
well.
Best of luck with your planning and make sure that each vehicle is 100% mechanical perfect, as any vehicle brake downs out there will remain where they stop.
Cheers
Stephen

Fletch,
What Stephen alluded to was that you need to travel from the west, if you're planning on travelling cross-country. The French Line etc are a walk in the
park compared to travelling offtrack in the north
Simpson Desert. The dunes are steep on their east faces, making travel in the direction you're planning very difficult.
Have you travelled the
Madigan Line or done the
Hay River?
